Update: More Mountain Snow Expected This Holiday Weekend
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the Sierra Nevada above 6,000 feet, from Sunday morning through late Sunday night.
Snow levels will start out above 6,000 feet and then drop down to between 4,000 to 5,000 feet on Sunday night.
The heaviest snow is expected Sunday afternoon and night.
Total snow accumulations above the 6,000 foot elevation, will range from one foot to thirty inches.
Weekend travel through the mountains is encouraged before Sunday morning if possible. The storm is expected to bring hazardous winter driving conditions. Travel will be very difficult, if not impossible. Significant reductions in visibility are likely, with winds gusting up to thirty mph.
Tree branches could fall as well.
Conditions are expected to improve on Monday as the storm winds down.
A Winter Storm Watch means there is potential for significant snow, sleet or ice accumulations that may impact travel. Continue to monitor the latest forecasts.
