Granting Illegal Immigrants Citizenship

Sacramento, CA – The Associated Press reports a new poll finds that nine in 10 California voters support allowing illegal immigrants to become citizens. However, that only applies if they have been in the country for several years, have a job, learn English and pay any back taxes they may owe.
The Field Poll released this week finds a majority of voters also support allowing residents here illegally to get California driver’s licenses, with 52 percent in favor and 43 percent against. Despite those numbers, voters still back strong border enforcement and penalties for employers who hire illegal workers.
