Emerging Leader In The Nation
Sacramento, CA – Assemblymember Kristin Olsen, was selected by the State Legislative Leaders Foundation (SLLF) as one of 50 “Emerging Leaders” in the Nation.
Each year, the non-profit and non-partisan SLLF selects 50 legislators nationwide and invites them to attend a three-day program.
According to the foundation the program provides the legistators “numerous opportunities to measure their expertise and knowledge against some of the most successful political and business leaders in the nation.”
Olsen says, “I’m so honored to be chosen as an Emerging Leader. I look forward to participating in this unique program and having the opportunity to learn from some of the most successful political and business leaders in the nation.”
Olsen was elected to represent the 25th Assembly District in 2010. She currently serves as Chief Republican Whip and Chair of the Legislative Rural Caucus. She is a member of the Assembly Insurance; Agriculture; and Joint Sunset Review committees. She is also Vice Chair of the Higher Education committee.
Olsen also noted that; “It is important that we, as legislators, recognize our role as consensus builders and solution-oriented problem solvers,” said Olsen. “We should take the time to broaden our perspectives and develop the leadership skills we need to tackle the challenging and critical issues of our day.”
The program is held at the University of Virginia in July. The SLLF is funded by a group of leading businesses and a grant from Altria Client Services. Their mission is to educate and inspire our nation’s current and future legislative leaders to excellence, without regard for party, politics, or ideology.
