Water Rate Hike Now In Effect
Sonora, CA – However, the first time you may notice the hike will be on your August 1st bill.
Last month the Tuolumne Utilities District Board approved a plan raising the rate by $2.76 a month.
That plan includes a 400 cubic feet or 3,000 gallons of free water per month. TUD says that will save customers who use little water outside. There is also a six tier rate system for residents and a newly created two tier non-residential water rate for schools, churches, businesses and most other non-residential purposes.
Below is a look at the rates by how much water you use each month.
Residential Tiers
1 – Under 400 cu. Ft. per 100 cu. Ft. – Free $0.00
2 – 400 – 799 cu. Ft. per 100 cu. Ft. $1.71
3 – 800-1,199 cu. Ft. per 100 cu. Ft. $2.05
4 – 1,200 – 1,599 cu. Ft. per 100 cu. Ft. $2.39
5 – 1,600 – 2,000 cu. Ft. per 100 cu. Ft. $2.73
6 – Over 2,000 cu. Ft. per 100 cu. Ft. $3.07
Non-Residential Tiers

2 – Over 400 cu. Ft. per 100 cu. Ft. $2.06
* Multi-Family residential customers are billed on a tiered consumption based upon the number of units served by their meter.
TUD says the multiple tiers were done to encourage and save those who conserve on water. TUD cut nearly $8 million dollars from the budget which runs through 2014.
