CHP Out In Force
San Andreas, CA — Heading out on the roadways this Thanksgiving, watch out, the CHP says officers will be out in force. Tonight at six they will start their Maximum Enforcement Period which will run through Sunday at midnight.
Sgt. Georgia Hiehle says the added patrols will be looking for “Speeding, DUI, traveling into the other lanes, unsafe passing, not wearing seatbelts, and texting. You name it, anything that could cause an accident. We want people to be safe out there.”
In 2011, 32 people lost their lives in California during the Thanksgiving Weekend. The CHP says that is a 52 percent increase from the previous year. They add that two-thirds of the people killed in those accidents were not wearing their seatbelts.
