Senate District One Special Election

San Andreas, CA – Voters in Calaveras County are taking part in a special election today to fill the seat of the late Senator Dave Cox.
The Calaveras County Elections Office reports that 14 polling locations are open in the county, and they will close at 8pm. Besides Calaveras, District One includes the counties of Alpine, Amador, El Dorado, Lassen, Modoc, Plumas and Sierra. It also includes portions of Sacramento, Placer and Nevada Counties.
The two candidates running are Democratic Mayor of Rancho Cordova Ken Cooley and Republican Assemblyman Ted Gaines.
