Winter Storm Warning For The Motherlode
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the Motherlode for Wednesday from 2 a.m. through 6 p.m.
Additionally, the Winter Storm Warning for the Sierra Nevada, has been extended through Thursday 4 a.m.
Snow levels will eventually lower to 2000 through 2500 feet during this time period.
Isolated thunderstorms, with sleet or small hail, is also likely on Wednesday.
Winds of twenty to thirty mph are expected in the Motherlode with local gusts reaching up to forty mph. In the Sierra Nevada, winds of twenty to thirty-five mph are likely with some gusts ranging from fifty to eighty mph.
Several inches of snow is expected at 2000 feet. Five to ten inches of snow is likely above 2500 feet. Half a foot to a foot of snow is possible above 4000 feet. One to two feet of snow may fall above 5000 feet. Two to four feet of snow is forecast above 7000 feet.
