Motherlode Sloshed After St. Patrick’s Day?
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the Sierra Nevada from late Thursday night through Saturday afternoon, which will also bring plenty of rain to the Motherlode.
Minor snow accumulation is expected at 3000 feet. Four inches to a foot of snow is possible from 5000 through 7000 feet. Ten inches to two feet of snow is likely above 7000 feet.
Winds of fifteen to thirty-five mph are also expected with gusts from fifty to seventy-five mph, along the crest.
Rain is expected in the Motherlode and isolated thunderstorms are a possibility Friday afternoon and evening.
Rivers and streams continue to flow at elevated levels and additional rainfall could lead to urban and small stream flooding as well as localized rock, dirt or mudslides.
