Calaveras County Redistricting
San Andreas, CA — Following the 2010 Census, Calaveras County is taking steps to change the boundaries of the Supervisorial Districts.
The Supervisors held a study session recently to look at proposed redistricting. Population in west Calaveras County is growing (Jenny Lind, Valley Springs, etc.), but population in the east (Arnold, White Pines) has been declining.
Much of the Highway 4 corridor would become part of District Three under the new proposal (Merita Callaway’s jurisdiction). Communities like Murphys and Douglas Flat, are currently in District 4 (Tom Tryon’s jurisdiction).
No action was taken at the recent study session. The Supervisors will hold a public hearing on the changes at an upcoming meeting. To view the individual jurisdictions click here.
