State Unemployment Rate Increases

Sacramento, CA – California’s unemployment rate increased to 12.5 percent in January.
In December the jobless rate was 12.3 percent.
A positive on the job front is that 32,500 new jobs were created in the state in January. The construction industry saw the largest increase with an additional 16,200 jobs.
The California Employment Development Department says revised individual county numbers will be released on March 10th.
The national unemployment rate remained steady in January at 9.7 percent.
