Changes To Affordable Housing Ordinance
Sonora, CA — Housing developments with less than five single family lots will no longer have to pay an in lieu fee as part of changes the Tuolumne County Inclusionary Housing Ordinance.
It was one of the decisions made at Tuesday’s Supervisors meeting. As part of the original ordinance passed in 2008, builders had been required to set aside 10 percent of homes in developments as “affordable housing.” A change to the ordinance now allows builders the option of paying an in-lieu fee of $2,190. Last year the median price of a home in Tuolumne County was $219,000, while five years ago the median price was over $300,000.
