Friday Freeze, Saturday Storm In Forecast
A Freeze Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service for the Motherlode on Friday morning until 10am.
Overnight minimum temperatures will range from the low twenties to the low thirties and temperatures below freezing will last for eight hours or more in the coldest areas.
Damage to unprotected outdoor piping is possible. These conditions will also kill sensitive vegetation and cause damage to citrus plants, nut trees and nursery stock. Protective measures should be taken and completed.
A new storm system will move into the area and a Winter Storm Watch has been issued all day Saturday for the Sierra Nevada.
The snow level will be around 3000 feet. Four to sixteen inches of snow accumulation could fall from 5000 through 6500 feet. Twelve to twenty inches of snow is possible above 7000 feet.
