Sierra Nevada’s Sunday Winter Storm Watch
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the Sierra Nevada from Sunday afternoon through late Sunday night.
The storm will provide periods of moderate to heavy rain in the Motherlode into early Monday morning.
The snow level will be around 5000 feet. Four to six inches of snow accumulation may fall above 5000 feet. Ten to fifteen inches of snow is expected above 7000 feet. Up to two feet of snow is possible above 9000 feet.
Wind gusts of up to forty mph are probable in the Sierra and gusts of up to sixty mph are likely over the Sierra crest.
Thunderstorms are also possible in both the Motherlode and the Sierra during the early Monday morning hours. All precipitation will taper off by late Monday morning.
