“Franny Fry” And Other Activities Set For Friday
Sonora, CA — Sonora High School will be recognizing past athletes and roasting the Head Basketball Coach Friday night.
The varsity basketball game versus arch rival Oakdale will played at the Oak Pavilion in Columbia in anticipation of a large attendance.
School officials are inviting all past athletes to attend what is being called the “Sonora High All Athlete Game.”
“At halftime we will be pulling the winning ticket for the Subaru that we are giving away,” says Jeanie Smith with the Sonora High School Foundation. “There will also be an athletes reunion around five o’clock in the upper mezanine portion of the pavilion, so athletes, cheerleaders, coaches or anyone else is welcome.”
Immediately following the game will be a roast of Head Coach Rick Francis, a "Franny Fry," at the Sonora Elks Lodge. Francis is retiring from teaching at the end of the school year. Tickets for the roast are $20 in advance or $25 at the door. Tickets for the game are $5.
Proceeds from all of the events will benefit the “Trek for the Track” campaign to install a new track at Dunlavy Field.
