Time Running Out For Gottschalks

Sonora, CA — Department store chain Gottschalks has until Monday to either find a buyer or start a liquidation process.
News service Bloomberg is reporting that the company is in negotiations with Spanish retailer El Cortes Ingles, California based equity firm Golden Gate Capital Corp., and Illinois development company GK Development, Inc.
Gottschalks filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in mid-July, and the Fresno based chain has indicated it would prefer to find a buyer to take over operations, rather than liquidate merchandise.
