Tuolumne County May Create Parks And Recreation District
Sonora, CA — Citing a renewed interest in a desire for more parks and recreation trails in the County, District One Supervisor Liz Bass is looking into whether it is feasible to create a Parks and Recreation District.
Bass submitted a letter to the Board saying “I have encountered renewed interest in the subject from people who would like to see more parks, trails and youth playing fields but are unsure of how these things could be centrally organized and funded.”
Bass says she plans to call for a meeting later this month and invite representatives from the Youth Sports Foundation, County Schools Office, Groveland Community Services District, Twain Harte Community Services District, Tuolumne Park and Recreation District, Tuolumne Utilities District, County Administrators Office, County Recreation Department, City of Sonora and others to see if there is interest in pursuing the issue further.
A creation of the district would eventually have to be approved by voters.
