California Gold Hails E.I.R. Completion
Sonora, CA — According to California Gold’s Jim Todd the completion of the Environmental Impact Report was another major step forward in the effort to bring a Lowe’s Home Improvement Center to Sonora.
Stated Todd, “It’s absolutely tremendous in terms of employment particularly in light of our current setting with the mill closing along with Mervyns and Gottshalks.”
“Financially both the city and the county will reap in the hundreds and thousands of tax dollars. Equally substantial is the property tax increment that the city has available to it when the project is built and reassessed.”
Ground could be broken in the third quarter. The timeline; anywhere from three to four months for site work and then six to seven months for construction.
