Sonora, CA — Sonora police arrested 20 year old David Chapman of Hayward Tuesday evening and charged him with felony vehicle theft in addition to two other felony and three misdemeanor charges. At approximately 7:40 an officer on his way to work received a BOLO (Be On the Look Out) for a stolen 1995 white Chevy pickup truck. As the officer was headed eastbound on Hwy 108 near the Stone Corral he observed the vehicle approaching him. He immediately made a U-turn and the chase was underway reaching 80 mph. Chapman then left the vehicle and asked a resident for help. The resident responded by saying he was going to call the police. Chapman then went to a second residence where he was taken into custody by Sheriff’s deputies.
