May SOS Campaign’s Final Three Days
Sonora, CA — The May SOS Campaign, the brainchild of the Sonora Area Foundation, will wrap up its fundraising event Sunday, May 31.
S.A.F. CEO Mark Bergstrom was Friday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.
The goal of the campaign has been, in one months’s time, to raise $250,000 to be matched by the S.A.F. Through Wednesday evening approximately $220,000 had been raised.
Bergstrom is confident the goal will be reached. He adds that every dollar donated is doubled by the foundation. Bergstrom comments that, “Every single dollar counts because it’s doubled. In fact we just received a check from a lady in Jamestown for $3 so that thoughtful gift puts us another $6 closer to our goal.”
Once the funds are totaled they will be distributed by ATCAA, Interfaith and Sierra Senior Providers for Meals on Wheels. Bergstrom added that “Enough funds have already been raised so now the Don Pedro area, for the first time ever, will be serviced by Meals On Wheels.” In addition the program will serve meals every day of the week rather than the current five day schedule.
