Weekend Weather System Brings Cold Temperatures

Sponsored by:

A cold low pressure system from the gulf of Alaska will drop into northern California this weekend. Snow levels will drop to 4700 feet.

The change in weather will begin on Saturday with wind gusts up to 50 mph in the Sierra Nevada mountains. Wind chills will drop into the single digits above 7000 feet on Saturday night.

Isolated rain showers will also develop Saturday. Although little snow accumulation is expected (maybe an inch), snow levels will drop from 6700 feet on Saturday to 4700 feet by Sunday night.

The cold temperatures will remain until Monday.

If your heading into the mountains this weekend, bring extra clothing and carry chains.
