Valley Springs Man Killed In Weekend ATV Accident

Valley Springs, CA — 42 year old Jimmy Floyd Minyard of Valley Springs was killed in an ATV accident sometime Saturday evening after failing to return home from a Hogan Dam fireworks display.

According to CHP Officer Jaime Castillo his body was found at 7:08am Sunday by a passer-by in an off-road area near Hwy 26 and Hogan Dam Rd. The search for Minyard had actually started Saturday evening.

Minyard apparently failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway and drove onto the right shoulder. The ATV collided with a medium size oak tree just south of Harper Lane. After the initial impact the vehicle veered to the right.

Calaveras County Coroner Kevin Raggio stated that Minyard apparently died of traumatic injuries to his chest. The ATV was found lying on top of the deceased.
