Motorcycle Victims Identified By Authorities

Sonora, CA — 47 year old Johnny Ray Vernon and his wife, 46 year old Gail Lynn Vernon, both of Modesto have been identified as the deceased in the Monday 12:30pm motorcycle accident on Hwy 108 a half mile east of Old Strawberry Rd.
According to the CHP report the husband failed to negotiate a left turn. The 2005 Yamaha Royal Star went down a steep embankment and struck a tree. Both Vernons were ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. Both were wearing their helmets. Alcohol may have been a contributing factor.
Tuolumne County has now suffered three traffic related fatalities this calendar year.
