Furloughs Begin Next Week In Tuolumne County
Sonora, CA — Now is a good time to take care of any business related to government in Tuolumne County as beginning December 24th, a majority of the offices will be closed down for approximately two weeks because of mandatory furloughs.
Emergency services such as Fire, Ambulance and the Sheriff´s Office will continue to take calls, but non-emergency services will be put on hold.
Although the Department of Social Services will be closed, residents can still pick up an application for assistance prior to December 24 and place it into the drop box located outside the office.
The decision to furlough County workers was made by the Board of Supervisors due to budget constraints. A majority of the County offices will remain closed through January 2nd.
