Families Enjoy Frog Jump Youth Parade
Angels Camp, CA — An annual sign that the Frog Jumps are happening is the Frog Jump Youth Parade put on by the Soroptimist International of Calaveras County.
This year´s Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee is going on now through Sunday. The fair´s theme is Grapes A Stompin´, Frogs A Hoppin´.
The youth parade took place Thursday morning. Families lined the streets of downtown Angels Camp to watch the parade of floats, fire engines and community groups.
The students of Faith Lutheran preschool dressed up as little grapes and went on strike carrying signs saying,Save the Grapes.”
Sparky with the Angels Camp Fire Department was a favorite of the little children in attendance. The bigger kids liked all the candy that was being thrown out from the floats.
Today, Thursday, is Buckaroo Kids Day. Children 12 and under get into the fair free of charge. At 7:30 p.m. the Extreme Ranch Rodeo will take place in the arena.
Friday isExtreme Excitement” and the Tuff Trucks competition takes place at 7:30 p.m. in the arena.
Saturday is Cattlemen´s Day. At 6 p.m. the Calaveras Idol competition takes place followed by country music singer Carolyn Dawn Johnson at 8 p.m.
And Sunday is, of course, International Frog Jump Day with the grand finals taking place at 2:30 p.m.
