Big Rig Accident Shuts Down Hwy 108
Sonora, CA — A big rig accident that involved two other vehicles has shut down Hwy 108 in both directions approximately a quarter mile east of Standard Rd.
Shortly after 3pm an eastbound big rig, according to the un-named driver, rear ended a vehicle that was attempting to make a left hand turn onto Seaborn Rd. The truck pushed the vehicle into the westbound lane where it was hit by a west bound vehicle. Both vehicles ended up in the ditch on the north side of Hwy 108.
A preliminary report revealed major injuries to at least one individual in the car attempting to make the left hand turn. Two ambulances were called to the scene. The truck driver was not injured and remained at the scene during the investigation.
The names of those involved in the accident have not been released at this hour by the investigating CHP jofficers.
Traffic has been diverted southbound by the CHP onto Standard Rd. and Cavalieri immediately east of Standard Rd.
