CDF Says Fire Hazard Reduction Begins At Home

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — Fire season is almost upon us and the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection is reminding Mother Lode residents that it is time for the annual fire hazard reduction.

CDF officials believe residents play a vital role in the fire protection system and their involvement in self-help efforts to minimize fire hazards is crucial.

The most important prevention step homeowners can take is to clear flammable vegetation at least 100 feet from all structures.

CDF will be conducting hazard reduction inspections again this year, to makes sure residents are complying with state regulations.

Property owners who fail to meet compliance may be cited into court with a fine of up to $500. Additional information is available at your local fire station.
