President Bush’s Approval Numbers Continue To Drop In California
San Francisco, CA — President Bush´s approval ratings among Californians continue to drop, hitting another new low in a statewide poll released Sunday.
The latest Field Poll shows only 28% of voters approve of Bush´s job performance. That´s the lowest rating any president has received in the state in three decades. 65%of voters disapprove of the job he´s doing while 7% have no opinion.
However, the majority of the state´s Republicans, 59%, still approve of his job performance.
The lowest approval rating a president has received since the Field Poll was initiated in the 1970s was Richard Nixon´s 24% in 1974, shortly before his resignation.
Researchers interviewed 986 voters by telephone from May 23 to
31. The poll has a sampling error rate of 3.2 percentage points.
