Sierra Pacific Industries has agreed to a $100,000 settlement with the Calaveras County District Attorney. DA Jeffrey Tuttle says the settlement stems from SPI´s logging activities in Calaveras County.

Tuttle says the company violoated its own state mandated timber harvest plans. Those violations, he says, include improper erosion control, bad road maintenance, failure to protect some archeological sites and not protecting some nearby water sources.

As part of the settlement, the company will pay $60,000 in civil penalties, and make $40,000 in contributions to some environmental projects.
