About 2,200 Marines and sailors of the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit arrived in the San Diego area yesterday after six months in the Persian Gulf.

They came home aboard the amphibious assault ship Tarawa and amphibious transport dock Duluth. A third vessel in the group, the USS Rushmore, docked after helping in a rescue at sea.
