University of California, Davis, officials say they may not be able to collect enough donations to complete a landmark wine and food science center as quickly as planned.
Winemaker Robert Mondavi donated $25 million two years ago to build the center. But UC Davis officials say they need at least $15 million more.
Officials are preparing for a fall 2004 groundbreaking of what some say will be one of the world´s most prestigious wine and food science academic programs. Davis runs the largest viticulture and enology program in the nation and attracts increasing numbers of students from the world´s wine regions.
