  • Three-vehicle crash on HWY 26 near Olive Orchard Road in Valley Springs—CCF photo

Valley Springs, CA – After three wrecks on the same roadway in the Valley Springs area of Calaveras County yesterday, first responders are warning of the dangers of the first rains.

The three crashes occurred on Highway 26 in the area of the Olive Orchard Road and Garner Place intersection. No individuals were hurt in two of the collisions, but Calaveras Consolidated Fire (CCF) reports that one person suffered minor injuries in the wreck pictured in the image box.

Firefighters responded to a three-car vehicle crash involving a pickup and two sedans. It is unknown what caused the incident, but the slick road may have been a contributing factor, according to first responders. The photos show damage to the front of one of the sedans and the side of the truck. There is apparently a third car on the shoulder with damage to its rear. The CHP continues to investigate the cause.

In a second crash, CCF detailed that a truck slid off the highway south of Olive Orchard Road.

“A reminder to everyone, this is the first good soaking rain of the year,” stated CCF, noting, “Roads are wet and slick.”

We reported here on Thursday (10-2); due to the rainy weather, the CHP reminded drivers to use caution and provided safety tips for driving in wet conditions during the fall and winter.
