Sonora, CA — Deemed no longer necessary, and with minimal applications to fill, the Sonora City Council will vote this evening on dissolving four long-standing city committees.
They include the City Tree and Landscaping Board, Cemetery Committee, Parking and Traffic Commission, and Parks, Recreation, and Beautification Committee. If the council moves forward, the roles of the committees would be taken over by either the City Administrator or other staff. At an earlier meeting, the council gave direction to take steps to do away with the committees.
In addition, there will be a vote to approve a Solid Waste Franchise Agreement with a new provider, CAL Waste, replacing its agreement with CAL Sierra-Waste Management. There will also be a presentation on three potential grant opportunities related to evacuation routes, the Sonora Creek Restoration, and a downtown walkability plan.
In addition, there will be an update presented on Phase One of the Gold Rush Path Trail that will connect Sonora and Jamestown, and eventually to Columbia as well.
The meeting starts at 5 pm at Sonora City Hall.
