Assemblyman Tangipa Calls For Insurance Commissioner Lara To Resign

Sponsored by:

Sacramento, CA — California Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara is under investigation for allegedly using taxpayer dollars to take luxurious trips.

The Fair Political Practices Commission is looking into allegations about vacations at five-star resorts, limo rides, and an African Safari.

Republican Assemblyman David Tangipa is strongly criticizing Lara’s actions, stating, “While Californians are choosing between rent, groceries, and their next insurance payment, the very official tasked with fixing this crisis is billing them for luxury travel around the world. This isn’t just poor judgment-it’s a betrayal of public trust.”

Tangipa is calling for Lara to step down from his role, adding, “Ricardo Lara has made his priorities clear, and they don’t include the people of California. If he’d rather spend his time on vacation than doing his job, then he should step aside and pursue that full-time. It’s time for Lara to resign.”

The investigation by the Fair Political Practices Commission follows media reports about Lara’s trips by an ABC television affiliate in San Francisco.
