Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA– Three children are now in the safety of Child Welfare Services after their mother, 44-year-old Kathleen Morrison become intoxicated and abusive.

On Wednesday, the Sonora Police Department dispatch center received a 911 hang up call from a Shepard Street residence. Officials say when the dispatcher called the number back, she heard a physical altercation taking place in the background along with children screaming and crying.

Upon arrival, officers found Morrison and her three young children, who were crying, in the home. After interviewing the children, officers discovered Morrison had been drinking and became verbally abusive towards all three of the children and had physically abused the eldest daughter, who is thirteen, accusing her of drinking all the wine in the house.

The thirteen year old suffered scratches and red marks to her upper body as a result of the attack. Morrison was arrested and booked for willful harm or injury to a child; her three children were taken into protective custody and turned over to the care of CWS.
