Firemen’s Memorial Set For Friday
Sonora, CA — A memorial to honor firefighters who were killed in the line of duty in 2005 will take place at Courthouse Park in downtown Sonora Friday at noon.
Eight California firefighters lost their lives in 2005. Representatives from the various firefighting agencies will read the names of each fallen firefighter who died in California last year. The honor guard from the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protecitons will toll the bell after each name is read. They will be joined by a tolling of all the big bells of Sonora.
Fourth District Supervisor Mark Thornton will give a memorial address.
The public is invited to join this service and to honor those who continue to serve as local firefighters.
