San Andreas, CA – Calaveras County Animal Services has taken in three stray dogs and three billy goats on the run over the last week and is now turning to the public for help in identifying their owners.
These big boys, pictured in the image box, were found between Cosgrove Creek and Paloma roads, between Paloma and Valley Springs, on Saturday, November 1, 2025. The goats were attempting to break out some fenced-in does on Halloween night, possibly to go trick-or-treating. They caused quite a ruckus, prompting the property owner to call the shelter for help.

The three pooches were all found on the same day, Tuesday, November 4, 2025. The two large white dogs, a mother and daughter, are believed to be Pyrenees mixes. They were found in the area of Ospital and Southworth roads, near Valley Springs. The mother has a chip, but shelter authorities said there is no “good information on it.” That is the same issue with this lovely boy, whose microchip has no information associated with it. He was picked up in the area of Sheep Ranch and Mountain Ranch.

“We can see that the dog has been well fed, so we think there must be an owner looking for it,” shared shelter officials.
Anyone who recognizes any of these animals and knows where or who they belong to is asked to contact the Calaveras County Animal Services at (209) 754-6509. If no owners are discovered, they will all be put up for adoption to find their forever home.
