Bear Valley’s New Lift Towers Are In
Bear Valley, CA — A new ski lift that´s supposed to reach the summit in half the time is quickly being assembled at the Bear Valley Mountain Resort.
The Polar Express is currently being installed to replace the old Hibernation lift. The lift towers were recently lowered into place by helicopters.
Company officials say the new lift is one of the most advanced, environmentally-friendly lifts in production.
Other improvements underway at the resort include remodels of the food court and saloon and computerization of the registration process.
These upgrades are the first phase of a larger vision for the lodge and ski area. Executives are proposing a pedestrian-oriented development with two condominium projects totaling 350 units and more than 20,000 square feet of retail space.
Those projects have not yet been submitted to Alpine County for approval.
A spokesperson says the resort is hopeful the ski season will begin Thanksgiving weekend, but due to weather, it might end up being sometime in December.
