Kicking Off A Holiday Tradition Of Helping Pets And Their Owners

Sponsored by:

San Andreas, CA – The Calaveras County Animal Services (CCAS) is hoping to start a holiday tradition this weekend to help pets find their new owners and, with the help of the public, keep them together.

Shelter officials are kicking off their first Pet-Giving Adoption and Pet Pantry event to bring some extra love to shelter animals this year. It will be held at the Government Building, 891 Mountain Ranch Road in San Andreas, not at the shelter. CCAS will collect donations for community members in need of pet food throughout the year, toys for shelter animals, and adoption goodie bags. The toys should be indestructible for adult dogs and soft plush for puppies. Pet accessories, grooming products, and health supplies are needed.

“Celebrate Thanksgiving for our fur babies. Help us place wonderful adoptable dogs and cats and fill our community pantry for 2026,” request shelter officials.

Additionally, Friends of Calaveras Animal Services (FOCAS) will sponsor all “DOGGO” adoptions. The event kickoff is Saturday, November 15th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Government Center (not the shelter), located at 891 Mountain Ranch Road in San Andreas. For those who wish to donate but cannot attend this weekend, donations will be accepted at the shelter (901 Jeff Tuttle Drive, San Andreas), Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., until December 31, 2025.
