Sonora City Council Approves $4.1 Million Budget
Sonora, CA — Sonora has a new budget for fiscal year 2005-2006 and it is up 6 percent from this years spending plan at $4.1 million.
The budget includes cost of living pay raises for all city employee groups, as well as 3 percent annual raises for the next three years for employees who handle sensitive information.
Firefighters and police officers can expect a 7 percent wage increase, which is the second increase this year.
The revenue generated by the half-cent sales tax increase will go towards police, fire, and public works.
At the end of the budget year the money will have helped to hire 5 new police officers and 2 new public works employees.
