Angels Camp Considers Raising Sales Tax

Angels Camp, CA — City officials in Angels Camp will consider tonight whether to raise the city´s sales tax from 7.25% to 8%.
The City Council says the extra tax is needed to fund a highway 49 bypass. Officials say the increase would bring in more than $650,000 of additional revenue a year.
The issue will be open for public comment tonight. Also under consideration will be a transactions and use tax which would be paid by retailers. The bypass project is estimated to cost about $15 million.
