CHP Restricts Traffic On Parrots Ferry Road

CHP says traffic control measures are in place on Parrots Ferry Road about five miles north of Marble Quarry Road as crews attempt to retrieve a cement truck that left the roadway and fell down a 40-foot embankment.

CHP says traffic is being routed through one lane and delays in the area are to be expected. CDF and the County Health Department are on scene to evaluate and clean up a diesel spill caused by the accident.

Officers have requested a commercial sized tow truck to pull the Cement truck up the embankment.

CHP says traffic will be controlled for as long as 2 to 4 hours and a complete closure may be necessary for part of that time.

The driver of the truck says the cause of the accident was brake failure.

Authorities say the diesel is well away from the lake and poses no threat of contaminating the water. No injuries have been reported.
