Man Drowns While Trying To Rescue A Child

Sequoia National Park, CA — A man is dead after trying to rescue a child from a rushing river in the Sequoia National Park.
Park Officials say a man and a woman were trapped Monday in the Middle Fork of the Kaweah River while attempting to rescue a child.
Bystanders told rangers that the woman was rescued, but the man could not swim and was sucked under the water. He was pulled up from 30 feet below the river´s surface by Park Rangers and pronounced dead.
Park Officials say the man was the third drowning in that part of the river this year.
