Heart Chapter Forms In Calaveras

San Andreas, CA — The American Heart Association has formed a new chapter in Calaveras County.
The Mother Lode Chapter consists of community members who participated in the association´s Go Red for Women Campaign last year. The group met Tuesday with the backing of Mark Twain St. Joseph´s Hospital and came up with the chapter´s organization and purpose.
Family Nurse Practitioner Josephine Martinez-Ornum of Valley Springs was named chair of the chapter. Primary goals will be fund raising, targeting childhood obesity and continuing a serious of “Lunch and Learn” seminars.
A formal announcement on the formation will be made at a November 4th seminar. In February, which is “Heart Month” the group will host a meeting to garner support.
