AAA Reports Gas Prices Still Up Despite Two-Month Decline

Sacramento, CA — AAA of Northern California says gas prices have fallen for the second straight month.
However, analysts say that despite the decline, prices at the pump are still about 32 percent more than at the beginning of the year.
Experts say the falling prices are due in part to a reduction in demand in combination with increasing supply as gulf coast refineries are brought back into operation following the devastating hurricanes there.
Experts say the downward trend should last at least through the end of the week.
AAA says the statewide average stands at about $2.58 a gallon, which is down 42 cents from a month ago. The nationwide average is $2.29 a gallon.
