Sonora, CA — The installation of an all-way stop at the intersection of Highway 49 and Shaws Flat Road will occur over an upcoming weekend.
Caltrans reports that during the installation, there will be one-way traffic control operations set up. The work is scheduled to take place Saturday, July 25, from 8 am – noon, and Sunday, July 26, from 8 am – 4 pm.
Caltrans states that the purpose is to reduce the number of broadside collisions at the intersection. It is considered a short-term safety fix while a permanent solution is developed.
Later this month, stop signs and all-way plaques will be installed for travelers arriving in each direction (with solar-powered beacons), “STOP AHEAD” warning signs, and corresponding pavement markings.
