Accused Hunter Killer Once Lived in Stockton
A Hmong immigrant suspected of killing six deer hunters in the Wisconsin woods over the weekend had chance to sharpen his shooting skills in California.
Military records obtained by The Associated Press show that Chai Vang was a member of the California National Guard 1989 to 1995.
During his six years with the guard, he earned a qualification as a sharpshooter.
Public records show Vang lived in public housing in Stockton between 1991 and 1992.
He later moved to an address in the downtown area.
Stockton police say he had NO public record when he lived in the city.
Authorities in Minnesota say the 36-year-old Vang has had NO criminal record since moving to the state.
But police in St. Paul say there have been two domestic violence calls to his home in the past year.
Both were resolved without incident.
Vang is being held on 2.5 million dollars bail.
