The Scott Peterson murder trial is heading into its final stretch.

The prosecution is expected to wrap up its case next week, but prosecutors may have suffered a setback during yesterday´s session.

Modesto police Detective Craig Grogan was forced to acknowledge that Peterson showed greater interest in the police search for his wife than he had previously testified.

During cross-examination by defense lawyer Mark Geragos, the detective admitted that he and Peterson spoke at least eleven times in the first ten days of the case.

Earlier in the week, the detective had said that Peterson asked police about the investigation only about once a month.

When court resumes Monday morning, a tidal expert from the U-S Geological Survey is expected to be called to testify about the currents in San Francisco Bay.
