Sonora Resident Dies In Utah Crash
A Sonora resident was reported killed Friday night in a roll over accident in Utah.
According to the St. George Utah Spectrum Newspaper, college students 21-year-old Marc Stemig of Sonora, and passenger 19-year-old Katie Tenney of Dixon, were traveling north in a 1999 GMC Jimmy on Interstate 15 near Harrisburg, Utah when for an unknown reason, Stemig lost control of the vehicle.
Utah State troopers say the SUV rolled for almost 200 feet on the roadway, slamming against the guardrail, before it went over the rail and came to rest upside down in the median of the Harrisburg Dip.
Stemig was found dead inside the car when rescue services arrived. He had to be cut from the vehicle. Tenney also died from her injuries.
Sonora resident Troopers believe the victims were headed back to Provo, where they attended Brigham Young University.
