Recall Ballot Being Finalized
The shape and size of California´s recall ballot will be clearer tonight. Elections officials are finishing their review of the candidacy papers filed by 247 governor wannabes.
At last count, California Secretary of State Kevin Shelley had certified 131 candidates and tossed out 76 for incomplete paperwork. The documents of 40 candidates are still being checked.
President Bush will be in the eye of the political storm beginning tomorrow when he starts a two-day fund-raising swing through California. Bush and his advisers profess to be nothing more than curious onlookers. But, an adviser to Democratic Governor Gray Davis says he believes the White House has been orchestrating the effort to unseat Davis “from day one.”
