Faith Based Agenda Up For Vote

House Republican Conference Secretary John T. Doolittle (R-Rocklin) along with Majority Whip Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) today urged members to expand the resources available to charities and faith based organizations by supporting the Charitable Giving (CARE) Act, of which Doolittle is an original co-sponsor. The measure is an integral part of the presidentÂ´s faith-based agenda and is scheduled to be voted on the House floor next week.

“The Charitable Giving Act is the next step in the presidentÂ´s faith-based agenda and will give millions of Americans who want to help their neighbors the resources to do so,” Doolittle said. “In addition, it will help expand many faith-based organizations since most charities are provided by religious organizations. Helping our fellow citizens in need must remain a priority.”

More than 75 percent of the food pantries in this country and 71 percent of food kitchen providers are faith-based organizations. The Charitable Giving Act has broad, bipartisan support with more than 80 cosponsors.
